Once more thankful to Allah almighty for giving us power and chance so we could compile and accomplish this English wall magazine to fulfill English assignment from A.E.C and as medium of  English creativity for all Students of foundation of Islamic education of Al - Ibrohimy hopefully this plain A.E.C CORNER will provide additional   knowledge and science for the reader especially and for those who are anxious to add their views in accordance with their good intention as one of their references to be enclosed to in general.  

We have struggled to attach the meaningful words here and there to compile in to a better one and as far as possible we avoid from platitude that is useless for education progress we take this initiative on purpose that may a little unsynchronized from the reader’s mood that’s our afford to provide and to satisfy the reader in welcoming the glory night of Islamic student graduation but I would say this A.E.C CORNER is still in frame we just take the branch of the provided topic to be different with others and it isn’t harmful thing, is it? Don’t you think that difference is a bless as long as we can interpret it well in this colorful life that’s what we mean with this to enrich our knowledge and experience

THE GLOBAL CRISIS

This unit is about the planet earth. At the beginning of twenty - first century, the earth is at critical point in its history. People are changing it. They are polluting the air and water. They are cutting down forests and building houses, roads, and factories everywhere. As result, global temperature is rising and the climate is changing. Thousands of species of plants and animals are disappearing and the sea level is rising.

Life is becoming more difficult for many people or society, too. The destruction of the environment has affected people around the world in the different ways. In industrialized countries, it has negatively affected the quality of life and even caused illness. In other areas of the world, it has hunger, poverty, and even death. This is true in many of the developing countries where people were already poor. Due to environmental problems, these people are no longer able to make a living from the land. At the same time, the social, political, and economic problems that they face are growing.

            All of those problems affect other and can lead disaster. In the year 2000, hurricane Mitch in Central America was just such disaster, it resulted in over 10.000 deaths, left millions of people without homes or homeless, and caused billions of dollars worth damage. The real cause of so much destruction, however, was not the hurricane itself. The problem partly population growth that meant people was more crowded together. It was partly international businesses, which took the best farmland in the valleys for the big plantations and forced people to move to the hillsides, which made the rain more destructive. Thus, human activity in many different forms caused a large part of the death and destruction.

            Another disaster is taking place in the southern oceans. In just the last decade, coral reefs have begun to die. Coral reefs are rock like formations made by tiny animals. they are a vital part of the ocean ecology because they provide home for thousands of kinds of water plant and fish where they get food and proliferate in. this reefs are very sensitive to changes in their environment and now , due to warmer ocean temperatures and pollution, large part of the reefs are dying, over half the coral reefs in the Indian ocean are without life it means no fish live there, and the same is true in the Caribbean sea this is caused of irresponsible hand where they use explosive for gaining the fish but they never care of the life of the next generation to fulfill  their personal desire. Scientist predicts that unless the situation changes suddenly, all these reefs will soon be extinct. The loss of these reefs will have serious consequences for both the fishing and tourist industries. Many people will be left without a way to make a living.

Around the world, individuals, businesses, include student and governments have neglected the environment. Now they need to act soon to try to resolve the many problems our planet is facing

GLOBAL WARMING

The evidence is clear. Where ever there is permanent ice – Greenland, Antarctica, the alps, the Himalayas – that ice is melting. Anybody whom has been to high mountains will have noticed this fact. Scientists agree that the cause of this melting is very simple. The earth’s atmosphere is warming up.

            the melting ice, in turn, is causing sea levels have risen about 8 inches (20 cm) in recent years, and scientists believe they could rise at least another 20 inches (50 cm) by the year 2100 this could put many heavily populated coastal areas at risk. Coastal Florida, the Nile delta, Bangladesh, and many other areas would end up under water.

            Along with rising air temperatures, the ocean temperatures are also riding. This has brought changes in weather patterns, with more frequent and more severe storms.  Rising ocean temperatures are also one of the factors in the death of coral reefs in the southern oceans. These reefs are the natural homes to 65 percent of the world’s fish, when the reefs die, so do the fish.

            The warmer air temperatures are also causing changes in the world’s climate zones. In Europe, the southern countries along the Mediterranean are already becoming drier and more desert- like. On the other hand, country in northern Europe, such as Germany and England, have experienced terrible flood from too much rain. Worldwide, agriculture will soon be negatively affected in many places. Life will become more difficult in the poorer countries of Asia and Africa, which already suffer from poor soil and lack of water, Millions of people could be forced to leave their homes and countries in search of food a better of life.

             The climate changes are affecting wild life as well. Scientists have noted that some animals have moved to new areas where temperatures are cooler. The monarch butterfly, for example, can now be found farther north in California than in the past. Other animals, such frogs and toads are disappearing because they are unable to move to new area or adapt to the changes.

            Why are the temperatures rising? Scientists no longer have any doubts about the caus. the burning of fossil fuels like coal and petroleum releases carbon dioxide (co2) into the atmosphere. Co2 has always been a part of the atmosphere. However, over the past 150 years, the amount of co2 released into atmosphere has increased enormously. At the same time, the forests that once absorbed co2 are being cut down. The result is a thick blanket of co2 that covers the earth, making it warmer.

            There is only one way to slow down this warming of the earth and that is by reducing the amount of co2 released into the atmosphere. This can be done by replacing fossil fuels with energy resources – such as wind power, solar power, or hydrogen fuel cells – that do not release co2 or other polluting chemicals

New Year and Islamic New Year

New Year is a waiting moment for everyone in the world and for Indonesian is no exception, from formerly people are anxious to celebrate The New Year, a plenty of varieties they use in celebrating The New Year, every region, or city and even country has its own manner and tradition but in general people welcoming The New Year by getting to gather in the centre of the town (city) by looking forward The New Year’s eve comes that’s at 12 pm (twelve pm) in the midnight sharp, at that moment all people in all over the world are gathering waiting the historical moment, why?  It is obviously because at twelve is the change of The New Year’s eve and all people are variously having party but most people celebrating it by drinking and eating party celebration and some of celebrating it by drug abuse and even free sex party where the young couple lovers spend their New Year’s eve in hotels, dormitories, at the sea, on the mountain or everywhere, the most important for them is having good time and fun. Most of them celebrate it just for fun and spending a great deal of money excessively and unwisely never they think of the poor’s fate that are starving and ill. Well, that is a glance of The New Year’s eve celebration.

            This is much contrary of all what has happened above (on the contrary) the celebration of Islamic new year where the Muslim only celebrate it, and not all Muslim celebrate the Islamic New Year, the Muslim habitually celebrate it by useful things such as holding religious discourse or speech in mosques, performing the Islamic competition and Islamic culture parade along the main road, so do the Islamic schools, institutions and foundations, they frequently celebrate the Islamic new year celebration by opening charity bazaar and the other Islamic events to commemorate the struggle of the messenger of Allah our beloved prophet Muhammad peace be upon him and his Shahabads (his close friends) in struggling Islam but oddly though the Islamic new year’s eve celebration is valuable (wholesome) as you see not whole society  enthusiastically celebrate it, on the other hand they celebrate the new year’s eve indeed,  all people from the children till the adult are  awfully enthusiastic to welcome it even though once in a while the new year’s eve celebration causes some people victimized, but now the Muslim specifically  and Indonesian people generally begin realizing to the importance of the Islamic new year celebration, it is proven in which all Indonesian TV channels report these various Islamic new year’s eve events and year by year the celebration of Islamic new year is getting more glorious and more people also would like to celebrate it up to remote areas and now celebrating Islamic new year has been a culture for the Muslim society especially and Indonesian in general, in short let’s celebrate both new year and Islamic new year wisely by doing wholesome activities and the main thing of the celebration is the application to behave better in this new year.

UNAS is not a strange thing anymore for public especially the students and the parents in general in this case UNAS or UN is something that is waited for every year but the problem from it is the recent system released by the government policy makes the teacher and student think hard how to graduate from because the students must fulfill the standard point if they want to graduate, while the standard point is getting higher and higher from year to year, at last almost all schools whether the government and non-government schools use special trick to goal their student and make their school reputation be better or at least to keep their good reputation though it’s from illegal way, we all have known that the problem in UN is a public secret.

every year the government prepares everything deal with the UN like the paper, regulations, distribution, facilities to bridge and make the UN success and many more to all over schools in Indonesia and spend great deal of money, but alas the good intention from the government is not positively responded by all people or institutions that involved with, it is proved by many institutions or teachers don’t obey the government regulations which is represented by Department Of National Education by giving the answer key to the students who are running the UN, of course this is immoral action that is done by the teacher, we know in fact a teacher should be a person who teaches and educates the students and become a good figure for the society that the teacher should be an educator who leads the student become good human being that the teacher is a noble occupation to be followed but how is when the teacher shows the opposite side from above, of course “the proverb if the teacher do a bad thing the student will do more” will be. If it is happened, the Indonesian generation (our country) is being in danger.

Why I say that, there are some reasons that we have to take care and look ahead they are;

1.      If this phenomenon grows prosperously the student will be lazy to study because they have known they will at last get the answer key if it’s happened the generation will be worse we will have difficulty to have qualified generation for our beloved country.

2.      They will be pessimist with their own ability, they will never have bravery to use their own brain though the student is clever in doing the test by themselves because they are afraid of failure not to reach the target point from which the government released to

3.      Every year the teacher always give bad habit to their students by giving the answer key so the student will imitate the bad behavior from the teacher from generation to generation

4.      At last The teacher, the student, and the society  will think that this bad phenomenon is not a bad thing anymore because they are accustomed to consume it every year this is extremely ironic

UNAS has become annual problem for this country and interests many people whether individually or in group such as institutions, education experts, ordinary people, parents, government, educators and many more to discuss this annual polemic, from discussions, seminar, and debate there always the pros and the cons position

The pros say that this phenomenon is a normal condition why the schools apply illegal trick because the government doesn’t see the school condition and not all are equipped with good facilities even most of them are still under standard condition, there is a huge gap between city – school and village – school mean while the government releases the same policy for all schools this is unfair policy for us according to those who refuse this policy because of one thing and other reason

Different with the cons say that this controversial phenomenon is definitely false, we have to delete this bad habit to save our nation from the stupidity regeneration, as a student we must study seriously in order to pass from the UN, consequently the student must responsible by themselves without blaming other people or government if they don’t pass from it. We should receive this good policy from the government for a better education and qualified human resource in this country otherwise our nation will be left behind from other countries

Who will we blame in this case? The answer is don’t blame anyone, but let’s see the problem in wise point of view, we can’t blame the government because the government just struggles to afford the best for this country, their intention is good for the education progress although still there is something to be completed here and there together. And we can’t blame the institution, the teacher or the student too because for the teacher they just want to help their students to pass from the examination as a Teacher he/she can’t bear to see their students fail from the exam after three – year study because of  three – day National Exam only. Besides that the teacher thinks how about the student’s mentality if they don’t pass from the UN, there will be many stressed students in this country and this will endanger our country generation too.

It’s a definitely dilemmatic problem, isn’t it?  For the student they have their own reasons why they take the answer key even though the clever one is no exception. As far as I can see the students’ ability in Indonesia more over in big scale like UNAS in which involve the students from all provinces where the situation and condition are relatively unequal one another whether the facilities, the teachers, the financial, the society, the environments etcetera, the government should take a look at and consider these factors to make standard point at which applied for all schools, may be for city schools or elite schools, eligible schools and qualified schools are not seriously problem facing the UNAS because they are supported by qualified factors such as the facilities, the teachers, the financial, the society, the environments etc. How about the other schools in which are still under standard of course it’s unfair standard point for all schools.

So it’s normal if the institutions or schools do this phenomenon because of one thing and other reason, obviously the government and the institution have their own reason to do this. At last let’s put our head to gather to overcome this controversial issue to get a better and qualified generation for our beloved nation with cold and wise consideration to make wise policy for all and there won’t be controversial issue any more in the future. Remember every issue has positive and negative impact, we must realize it as the saying goes nobody is perfect so is the policy

Long arguing will come up as long as the government and all elements never sit together to re correct the policy of the system in to wise and better police for all if we let this phenomenon goes naturally without any re correction the biggest disaster will destroy our country from inside slowly but surely, this disaster is much greater than any disaster we’ve ever had and we cannot imagine how awful is it

   We’re as an educated person must know how to differentiate between black and white with our wise point of view, in what point of view should we take the problem so that we can avoid the polemic which is debated.
